What's Happening Here?
The Waterworld ‘Press Gallery’ was built in the 1980’s to meet the need for newspaper reporters to watch events and create print articles. Over time technology has changed how the events are communicated to and Waterworld no longer has a requirement for a traditional press gallery.The space is being revamped into staff office space and space for event bookings to livestream their aquatic sport code events (eg Swim Meets).
During construction there will be loud noise. The 50m swimming pool is not affected and remains open for use.
Why
The project enables Waterworld to meet all requirements for hosting regional and national level swim meets and provides much needed office space for Hamilton Pools staff.
When
This will begin on Monday 2 December, with an estimated completion date in mid-January. Please note that there will be temporary scaffolding onsite, and the area will be ringfenced. The control room is still available on request for event bookings. We appreciate your understanding and patience over this time.
